Front Porch Chronicles

There’s an intermittent hum of an air conditioner engine next door.

Couples enjoying a late afternoon stroll.

Fresh air

Summer breeze

As the sunset disappears amongst a blanket of trees

The evening is calm as you snuggle into the faded cushion seat of your weathered rattan.

While

Four

Feet

Ahead of you

Lodged in a hedge

Of purple loropetalum lies

A large,

Spine-chilling… web!

It’s span, two feet minimum. What looks of mint wax dental floss at the web’s center is really a stretch of silk fiber woven into a zigzag structure.

“Baby, you need some spray!”

“Kill that girl, kill the spider!” declares the voice of your sister miles away.

Do you jet spray it with septracide?

Do you take a shovel to it, swat it down with a broom or flush it out with a fireman style water hose?

The complexity, eeriness about the beauty of this spider creating a web with such skill prompted your inner scary movie cast member to explore the unfamiliar.

According to the encyclopedia spiders are helpful to people (for your good).

Spiders eat each other (mentality).

Spiders don’t have bones (the tongue)

or a long life span (untruths),

and web-building spiders have poor eyesight (vision, lack thereof).

See, some mindset wanted you cast down for operating outside of your time zone (season), destroyed for discerning beyond your doorstep (enlarged territory)…

for thinking beyond your front porch.

You put action to your faith, built beyond comprehension and that frightens folks.

Blind minds are unable to see that though a web may be spun with great skill, any web of untruth, accusation, or disharmony weaved in opposition to you is too flimsy to stand against the power of God within you and is therefore easily swept away.

Aspire… reach- further than your front porch….Pursue your heart’s desire by faith, not by fright.

You put action to your faith, built beyond comprehension and that frightens folks.
